Dr. Bruce Filson has been helping people smile for over 35 years. He grew up in Northern Minnesota, and after college, trained at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Filson quickly grew attached to the St. Croix Valley and decided to make his home here. In 1974, he opened his practice in Bayport, and has been treating patients there ever since. Some of the faces there have changed over the years, but one constant has always been Dr. Filson's passion for helping patients.

Dr. Filson knows he can serve patients well by continually offering the community his excellence in dentistry. To do this, he is constantly learning the newest techniques and the most modern technologies dentistry has to offer. Instead of just meeting the requirements for continuing education, he has pursued a rigorous course of study, with thousands of hours of training over the years.

Dr. Filson has completed many advanced courses in cosmetic dentistry, oral reconstruction, implants and sedation dentistry. His intensive training in sedation dentistry has made sedation a major focus of the practice, and has made patient comfort one of his dental team's highest priorities.

In addition, Dr. Filson is a member several professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.

Giving back to the community is important to the whole team at Filson Gentle Dentistry, so they donate a full day of their time each year for a program called, Doctors with a Heart, which offers free dentistry to local families in need.

Dr. Filson his wife, Joan, still live near the Bayport practice. Their son and daughter are both out of school now, but the family enjoys getting together for snow skiing and spending time at their cabin in Northern Minnesota.
